If you need Outlook IMAP AzAd Mail settings, you are almost certainly leaving Exchange Online or connecting a desktop client to hosted mail. AzAd Mail is a Microsoft 365 email alternative for organizations that want mailboxes without a full M365 stack — Outlook still works, via IMAP/SMTP.

If Outlook says it cannot find a server, delete the guessed host and type server.azademail.com manually.
Outlook desktop steps
- Confirm your plan includes IMAP (typically 15 GB+; Essential 5 GB is webmail-focused).
- Add account → choose IMAP (not Exchange/Microsoft 365 profile for AzAd mailboxes).
- Enter the hosts and ports above. Enable outgoing authentication.
- Send a test to an external address and verify it lands outside spam.
- Optionally keep Microsoft 365 installed for Word/Excel while mail points at AzAd.
You will not get Exchange-only features (true EWS shared calendars, etc.). Decide that trade-off before migration.
Outlook mobile
Outlook for Android/iOS can use IMAP. On Android, eligible plans can also use the native AzAd Mail for Android app, which talks to the webmail API instead of device IMAP.

Moving from Microsoft 365? Provision AzAd mailboxes first, migrate history over IMAP, then change MX — or keep Microsoft MX with hybrid mail for selected addresses. Approximate 15 GB ≈ US$2.86/mo display USD (800 PKR ÷ 280).
Troubleshooting
- Auth failed: username must be the full address; password must be the mailbox password.
- TLS errors: verify port 993/465/587 and hostname match the certificate.
- Send works, receive does not: fix MX/SPF — IMAP host is unrelated to inbound DNS.
Outlook-specific pitfalls
Outlook may offer “Microsoft 365” or “Exchange” during setup. Decline those wizards for AzAd mailboxes — they expect Exchange Online, not IMAP. After a failed attempt, remove the account completely before retrying; partial profiles cache wrong hosts.
Sent items may land in different folders depending on Outlook IMAP settings. That is normal IMAP behavior, not an AzAd bug. Train users where to find sent mail or adjust Outlook’s “save sent” preference.
Shared calendars and rooms
Exchange shared calendars and room booking do not transfer to AzAd IMAP. If your team schedules entirely inside Outlook calendar tied to Exchange, plan an alternate calendar stack before mail moves. Contacts migrate more cleanly via CSV into AzAd Contacts.
Pilot before company-wide rollout
Move a non-executive mailbox first. Validate send/receive to Gmail and Outlook.com. Keep Microsoft or Google MX until the pilot is boring for a week. Hybrid mode exists if only some addresses move — see hybrid mail.

SMTP auth reminder
Outgoing mail requires SMTP authentication with the mailbox password. Outlook sometimes skips this on first wizard pass — if send fails with relay errors, re-check outgoing auth.
Mobile alternative
On Android, eligible plans can use AzAd Mail for Android instead of Outlook IMAP — same org credentials, API-backed inbox rather than device IMAP.

Password resets after migration
If users confuse mailbox password with Microsoft 365 password, auth failures spike. Send one internal note: AzAd mailbox password is set in AzAd admin/webmail — not the Microsoft portal.
Sent folder expectations
IMAP sent-mail behavior varies by Outlook version. If users panic about “missing sent mail,” show them which folder Outlook chose before opening a false outage ticket.
Hybrid overlap
When Microsoft MX stays primary, Outlook may still show an Exchange profile for some users and AzAd IMAP for others — document who uses which profile on shared machines.
